Highlight applications using a widget

 

Introduction

The Featured apps widget puts your most important applications front and centre on the Plek homepage. This way, colleagues find the tools they need most often at a glance.

In this article you'll learn how to feature an application, how to change the order, and what to do if the widget doesn't behave as expected.

Note:
Make sure the Featured apps widget is enabled before you start. Without an active widget, featured applications will not appear on the homepage.

 

How does the Featured apps widget work?

The widget displays a curated selection of applications that you, as an administrator, have marked as featured. For each application you decide whether it appears in the widget and which icon is used for the shortcut.

  • Featured applications: appear prominently in the widget on the homepage.
  • Regular applications: remain available in the full application overview but are hidden from the widget.
  • Order: you control which application appears first by dragging featured apps within the widget.

 

Feature an application

Follow these steps to show an application in the Featured apps widget.

  1. Open the overview page of the application you want to feature.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Toggle the Featured option on.

  4. Select an icon for the shortcut. This icon will appear in the widget.

  5. Save your changes. The application appears in the widget on the homepage right away.

Tip:
Place the most important applications at the top for extra visibility. You can change the order of featured applications by simply dragging them to the position you want within the widget.

Troubleshooting

The Featured apps widget isn't visible on the homepage

  • Check whether the widget is enabled in the homepage settings.
  • Refresh the page (Ctrl/Cmd + R) after enabling the widget.

My application doesn't appear in the widget

  • Open the application's overview page and check that the Featured option is switched on.
  • Make sure you saved your changes.
  • Verify that the user has permission to see the application — apps the user can't access won't show up in the widget.

I can't change the order of the applications

  • Click and hold an application to drag it — a short click won't work.
  • Try again from a desktop browser; reordering may not be available in the mobile app.
