Introduction
Reactions and comments are a simple way to show what you think of a post on the intranet. They lower the threshold to engage and help build a more connected organisation.
In this article you'll learn how to react with one of the six reaction icons, how to leave a written comment, how to view the reactions of others and how (as an administrator) to disable reactions or comments on sensitive or formal posts.
Reactions and comments are enabled by default on all posts. Administrators and content managers can turn them off per post via the advanced settings.
How does reacting to posts work?
There are two ways to respond to a post on the intranet. Choose the option that best fits what you want to express.
- Reaction icon (recommended for quick feedback): Show how you feel with a single click. Six reaction types are available.
- Written comment: Post a text response below the post. Useful for more detailed feedback, asking questions or starting a conversation.
Both options are available on desktop and in the mobile app.
The six reaction types
Below every post you can choose from six reaction icons. Each icon has its own meaning and helps you communicate how you feel about the post without using words.
- 👍 Like — Show appreciation or interest.
For example: a colleague shares photos from a team outing. - ❤️ Love — Show enthusiasm or engagement.
For example: someone shares an important milestone. - 🤝 Support — Show support or empathy.
For example: a colleague shares a personal message. - 🎉 Celebrate — Celebrate an achievement or milestone.
For example: a work anniversary or certification. - 💡 Insightful — Show that you feel inspired.
For example: someone shares a special story or insight. - ✅ Done — Confirm that something has been completed.
For example: a reminder or task that has been finished.
In the statistics, all reaction types are counted as a single 'reaction' type. The different emojis are not distinguished from one another.
Reacting with a reaction icon
Follow these steps to add a reaction icon to a post:
- Hover over the like button below the post.
- Choose one of the six reaction types from the pop-up menu.
-
Your reaction is saved instantly and appears below the post.
Want to change your reaction? Hover over the like button again and select a different icon. Your previous reaction is replaced automatically.
Viewing other people's reactions
Want to see how your colleagues have reacted? You can see at a glance who posted which reaction.
- Scroll to the reaction icons below the post.
- Click on the displayed emojis below the post.
- Review the overview to see which colleagues left which reaction.
Leaving a comment
Use a comment when you want to respond in more detail or start a conversation. For example:
- To give a compliment or add context.
- To share additional information.
- To ask a question.
- To start a conversation with colleagues.
Follow these steps to leave a comment:
- Scroll to the bottom of the post.
- Click in the text field and type your comment.
- Optionally add an emoji, GIF or attachment using the icons in the text field.
- Press Enter to post your comment.
- Your comment appears immediately below the post.
You can also reply to comments from other colleagues, which turns the thread into a conversation. The author of the post is automatically notified when you reply.
Disabling reactions or comments (for administrators)
For formal or sensitive posts you may want to disable reactions or comments. As an admin or content manager you can configure this per post via the advanced settings.
This feature is only available on desktop. You cannot disable reactions or comments from the mobile app.
Disabling reactions and comments
- Open the post on which you want to disable interaction.
- Open the advanced settings of the post.
- Toggle 'Disable reactions' on to block the six reaction icons.
- Toggle 'Disable comments' on to block written responses.
- Save the settings.
Existing reactions and comments are hidden as soon as you disable interaction. They are not deleted — when you re-enable the settings later, the previous reactions become visible again.
