Introduction
You can adjust several personal settings on the intranet so the environment better matches your preferences. This includes the interface language, the notifications you receive, your availability and how the intranet interacts with your email and calendar.
In this article you'll learn how to open your personal settings, which sections you can adjust and what to do if something doesn't work as expected.
The administrator of your organisation determines which languages and notification options are available. Not every option is therefore visible to every user.
How do you open your personal settings?
Personal settings are available on both desktop and the app. On desktop you open them via your name in the top right; in the app via your profile picture in the menu.
On desktop:
- Move your mouse to your name in the top right of the screen.
-
In the dropdown menu, click Settings.
- The settings overview opens. The left-hand menu lists every section you can adjust.
In the app:
- Tap your profile picture in the menu.
- Tap Settings.
Which sections can you adjust?
The left-hand menu contains four sections. Below you'll find what each section lets you configure and what to keep in mind.
1. Language and authentication
Use this section to set the default platform language and to manage your login credentials.
- Open Settings and choose Language and authentication.
- Select the desired language from the dropdown.
- Click Change password to set a new password.
- Click Generate QR code to log in easily on your mobile device.
The selected language only affects the intranet interface (such as buttons and menus), not the content itself. The language of posts and pages is determined by the author.
2. Notifications
Under Notifications you decide which alerts you receive. You can manage both general and channel-specific notifications.
- Open Settings and choose Notifications.
- Turn push notifications on or off.
- Manage your email notifications and indicate which emails you do or do not want to receive.
- For each channel or group, choose whether you want to receive notifications.
Receiving too many notifications? Start by turning them off for channels you rarely visit — that way you only keep alerts that really matter to you.
3. Availability
Use Availability to mark when you are away, for example during holidays or leave. While this period is active you won't receive notifications.
- Open Settings and choose Availability.
- Set a start date and end date for your absence.
- Click Save. You won't receive notifications for as long as your absence is active.
4. Email and calendar updates
This section controls how the intranet interacts with your email and personal calendar.
- Open Settings and choose Email and calendar updates.
- Set your preferences for periodic emails from the intranet (for example a weekly or daily summary).
- If desired, enable calendar synchronisation to link the intranet's events calendar to your own calendar (for example Outlook).
Once calendar synchronisation is enabled, intranet events are automatically added to your personal calendar. Existing appointments in your own calendar remain unchanged.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the language I want in the dropdown
- The administrator decides which languages are available. If your language is missing, contact your organisation's administrator.
- Check that you're using the right environment — some organisations operate multiple intranets with separate language configurations.
I'm no longer receiving notifications
- In Notifications, check that push notifications are enabled.
- Check that Availability isn't set to away — you don't receive notifications while an absence is active.
- Check that notifications are enabled for the channels and groups you expect alerts from.
My calendar isn't syncing
- Check that calendar synchronisation is enabled in Email and calendar updates.
- It can take up to an hour for new events to appear in your personal calendar.
- Check that the linked calendar is enabled in your own calendar application (for example Outlook).
