Introduction

The Start of Day notification is a daily pop-up in the mobile app that gives you an at-a-glance overview of what matters for you today.

In this article you'll read how the notification works, what information it contains and what to do if you don't see it.

The Start of Day notification is only available in the mobile app, not in the web version of BCS Connect.

 

How does the Start of Day notification work?

Every morning, as soon as you open the mobile app, a pop-up automatically appears with a summary of your day. It helps you get a quick overview before you start working.

The Start of Day notification shows:

  • 📅 Events scheduled for today: the meetings, webinars and company activities planned for the day, so you can plan your day right away.
  • 🎉 Colleagues' birthdays: the colleagues whose birthday falls on today, so you don't forget to congratulate anyone.
  • ✅ Open tasks (Employee Journeys): outstanding tasks or training items from your Employee Journey that still require action.

 

What happens after you close the notification?

Once you dismiss the Start of Day notification, it disappears until the next morning. The notification appears only once a day on purpose, so you aren't interrupted repeatedly.

The Daily News will continue to appear afterwards according to its usual timing in your timeline.

The Start of Day notification is intended as a short daily update. You can always find the underlying content — events, birthdays and tasks — later in the relevant sections of the app.

 

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Start of Day notification

  • Check whether you have already opened the mobile app today — the notification only appears the first time you open the app that day.
  • Did you already dismiss the notification earlier today? In that case it will only return the next morning.
  • Close the app completely and open it again if the pop-up doesn't appear on first launch.

The notification shows no events, birthdays or tasks

  • If there are no events, birthdays or open tasks for today, that section will simply stay empty.
  • Check that you're linked to the correct department or team — birthdays are shown based on your organisation structure.

The problem persists
