Introduction
The general settings determine how a form behaves for users and how the results are processed. You'll find these settings in the right-hand menu while creating or editing a form.
In this article you'll read where to find the general settings, what each setting does and how to use them to configure your form properly.
Which settings are available depends on the form type. Some options only work with an extended form and not with a poll or simple form.
How do the general form settings work?
The general settings are default settings that apply to every new form. You can adjust them per form to fit your situation.
- You'll find the settings in the right-hand menu while creating or editing a form.
- Most settings are turned on by default for an extended form.
- Not all settings are available for a poll or simple form.
Overview of the general settings
Below you'll find an explanation per setting: what does the setting do, when do you turn it on and what should you watch out for?
Notifications
With Notifications you decide who receives an alert when a new submission comes in.
- Select one or more users who receive a notification for every new response.
- These users are also allowed to view the form results.
- For a poll, the results are always visible to all users.
Quiz options
With Quiz options you turn a form into a quiz. You can configure the following:
- Shuffle the answers of a multiple-choice question.
- Shuffle the answers for questions with multiple answers.
Anonymous results
With Anonymous results you disconnect answers from usernames. No one can see who gave which answer.
- Answers are disconnected from usernames.
- Once saved, you cannot change this setting.
Anonymous results cannot be undone after saving. Check this setting carefully before you save the form.
When the form is submitted
This setting controls what users see after they fill out the form. You choose one of two options:
- Show a personal confirmation message.
- Or show charts and results directly to the user.
Use a confirmation message to thank users or to provide additional information after they have submitted the form.
Multiple submissions
With Multiple submissions you allow users to fill in the form more than once.
- Users can send multiple submissions.
- You can show suggestions based on the user's previous answers.
- Or always show the form without any suggestions.
Previous submissions are not deleted or modified when a user fills in the form again.
Adjusting the general settings
Follow these steps to adjust the general settings of a form:
- Open the form you want to edit, or create a new form.
- Click the right-hand menu to open the general settings.
- Adjust the settings you need, such as Notifications, Quiz options or Multiple submissions.
- Double-check settings that you can no longer change after saving, such as Anonymous results.
- Click Save to apply the settings to your form.
Always run through all general settings before you publish your form. This prevents users from getting the wrong expectations.
