As a user, you can create a post. Often, you will post it immediately, but as a content manager, you can also schedule a post to be published on a specific date and/or time.
For example, do you have important company news that is under embargo until 7 AM tomorrow? Such a post should be published after the embargo ends but before everyone starts their new workday. In this case, you can prepare your post today for future publication.
Publishing a post in the future
To schedule a post for future publication, follow these steps:
1. Hover your mouse over Posts in the top menu. A dropdown menu will appear.
2. Click New Post.
A screen will appear where you can compose a new post:
3. Choose whether this will be a Public Post or a Group Post (and select the channel or group where you want to post it). A public post is shared via Channels and will be visible to a large part of the organization. A group post is only visible to members of that group.
4. Give your post a title and type your message.
You can format your post using the toolbar in the text field:
5. Check the box for Change Date on the right side of the post editor.
6. Then select the date and time when this post should be published.
7. If you are satisfied with your post, click Publish.
You will now see your post as other users will see it after publication. Your post is saved and will only become visible at the scheduled time.
If you navigate to the homepage, you will notice that your post is not yet visible in the channel or group where you scheduled it.
Clicking on Posts in the navigation bar, however, will show your post. It will indicate how long until your post is published.
You can always edit or delete your post (both before and after publication).
TIP!
If you are a group manager and want extra attention for your post, you can send a notification via email/app.
