Introduction
Visits is the second step in adoption: once your reach is in order, the goal is to turn users from one-time visitors into returning visitors. A high visit score means people visit the platform regularly — preferably daily.
In this article you'll learn how to increase visitor numbers on the platform. We cover four topics: the platform's home page, profiles, communication streams, and platform onboarding including employee journeys.
Visits follows Increase your Reach in the 5-step model for adoption. Work on reach first before focusing on visits.
The platform's home page
The home page is the platform's landing page and, for many users, the central starting point of their day. A good home page is therefore essential for a high visit score. Track this score in the statistics module Insights.
Setting up an effective home page:
- Apply a recognizable house style, so users immediately recognize that they are on their organization's platform.
- Keep the important-news overview clear and tidy with recognizable header images.
- Use banner widgets for links to important information.
- Add a shortcut menu for frequently used applications and pages.
Profiles
Every user has their own profile page on the platform. By default, this page is visible to everyone. In the user overview, colleagues see a list view of all users. Well-filled profiles make the platform lively and help people find each other.
Crucial for a lively user overview:
- Profile fields filled in & displayed, preferably (partly) automated via User Provisioning.
- Add filters, so users can easily find each other.
- Extra attention for important information below the name in the profile overview.
Profile settings cannot be managed by the admin — changes are carried out by our staff. During implementation you can discuss this with your implementation consultant. Is your platform already live? Then send a request to support.plek@bcs-hr.com.
Communication streams
Clear and recognizable communication streams — suited to both central information provision and personalized needs — are an important driver of returning visits. Customers who received guidance during implementation determined, in the work sessions together with BCS, which channels and groups suit their organizational objectives.

To get users to return, you can:
- Post enough relevant news.
- Work on a good content strategy (see Tips for a good content strategy).
- Keep information up to date.
- Ask for feedback on information provision and findability.
The platform has an Internal communication evaluator available based on Smart Conversations. Want to know more about this? Get in touch with your account manager or send an email to support.plek@bcs-hr.com.
Platform onboarding
When users log in for the first time, they see a number of click-through screens — the platform onboarding. With this you can welcome new users, have them fill in profile information, or have them join groups. Because they actively take part, they feel immediately engaged.
Benefits of good platform onboarding:
- A warm welcome to your platform.
- Recognizability is increased by requesting a profile photo.
- Showing group suggestions to users.
- Encouraging users to download the app — this lowers the threshold for regular visits.
Employee Journeys
Where platform onboarding gives users a soft landing, Employee Journeys guide employees through important processes such as onboarding, compliance, and training. Each journey is tailored to the employee's role and offers step-by-step guidance with tasks such as watching videos, taking quizzes, and giving feedback.
The program manager (Employee Journeys) is not included by default in every edition. Check the website for the available editions. For more information: contact your account manager or email support.plek@bcs-hr.com.
