Introduction
The Activity Insights page shows which elements on the platform receive the most interaction — from clicks on widgets and menu navigation to search queries. These insights support setting up the homepage and making the most-used features easy to find.
This article describes the three sections of the page: Widget Clicks, Menu Clicks and Top Search Queries.
Activity Insights is accessible via the left-hand navigation under Adoption insight › Activity. The page shows organisation-wide information and is available to admins and content managers.
Selecting a period
At the top is the Select date range section with two month fields. The selected period applies to all interaction charts and tables on the page, with the help text This period applies to all interaction charts below.
Statistical data is only available for completed months. Data for the current month becomes available once the month has closed.
Widget Clicks
The Widget Clicks section shows the most-clicked widgets on the dashboard. The search field helps you find a specific widget.
Columns:
- Widget name: the name of the widget. Deactivated widgets are shown with the label [DEACTIVATED].
- Widget type: the type of widget, for example birthdays, banner, channelWidget, myJourneys or documents.
- Clicks: the number of clicks on the widget in the selected period. By default the table is sorted in descending order by this column.
- Unique users: the number of distinct users who clicked on the widget.
Menu Clicks
The Menu Clicks section shows the most-used navigation items. The search field helps you find a specific item.
Columns:
- Menu item: the name of the navigation item, for example Groups, Documents, Messages or Calendar.
- Clicks: the number of clicks on the item in the selected period. By default the table is sorted in descending order by this column.
- Unique users: the number of distinct users who clicked on the item.
Top Search Queries
The Top Search Queries section shows the most-entered search terms.
Columns:
- Search term: the search term entered by users.
- Count: the number of times the term was searched in the selected period.
Search terms provide insight into what users are looking for. Recurring terms may be a reason to make the related content or navigation easier to find on the homepage.
Using the insights
- Select the desired period under Select date range.
- Under Widget Clicks, see which widgets on the dashboard are being used and which receive little interaction.
- Under Menu Clicks, see which navigation items are opened most often.
- Under Top Search Queries, see what users are searching for, and use this as input for setting up the homepage and navigation.
